The introduction of home

This is a typical Japanese house.

The tiles on the roof are affixed overlapping each other.

However, there are many houses which tiles aren't used in this manner, too.

This is the entrance of a Japanese house.

This is where we take off our shoes and enter the house.

We do not wear our shoes in the house.

This is tatami.

In almost all Japanese houses, there is tatami.

We call a tatami room, "washitsu".

This is a kitchen.

There are not many differences between American kitchens and Japanese kitchens.

This is a Japanese toilet.

It does not resemble an American toilet, or "Western style" toilet, but recently there are more "Western style" toilets being made, and we have come to use both styles of toilets.

This is a Japanese bath.

In America, the toilet and the washroom are together, but in Japan they are separate.
